This February, NUMROTO will no longer support software versions below 4.0.0
Why is this Happening?
As with software companies around the world, NUMROTO’s engineers face increasing demands with roadmap development for new features and functionality; to do so they must make tough decisions
to sunset older versions of their software.
How this Change May Affect You
Customers running a Windows® 7 or Windows 10 operating system, can easily upgrade to NUMROTO version 4.0.0 or later, a proven and reliable solution that NUMOTO will continue to support. One of the benefits of using NUMROTO is your ability to update the software for free with each new release.
Customers with older operating systems must make a choice between running an older, unsupported platform from NUMROTO, or updating to Windows 10, which can run NUMROTO 4.0.0 or later. Either way, we want to assure you that Star Cutter’s service team will help you make the transition when the time is right for your operation.
How Star Cutter Can Help
Upgrade to the Latest NUMROTO Software
If you’re running an older version of NUMROTO on Windows XP (or earlier), and would like to upgrade your PC, Star will provide support. We just need to remote access the system via Team Viewer to verify and capture all pertinent information from your existing PC. We then configure a new PC and send it to you.
After that, we run another remote access session to finalize the configuration, upgrade to NUMROTO 4.0.0 or later, and verify operation as expected.
This is a low risk approach
- This is a upgrade planned around the customer’s production schedule and budgeted department spend.
- The Star team has engineered and developed an industrial PC retrofit that enables all generations of Axium, Flexium, and Flexium+ CNCs up to run on Windows 10. This results in minimal downtime during the retrofit and seamless upgrades for the foreseeable future.
Continue Using Your Existing PC and Software
If you are running Windows XP (or earlier) and happy with the performance of NUMROTO 3.9.0 (or previous versions), you don’t need to take any action.
This approach comes with greater risk
- As you get further removed from NUMROTO advancements past 3.9.0, upgrading the software will become an even more cumbersome task when it’s required.
- Should the PC you’re currently running have a failure, your Star machine will be down until we can send an emergency PC replacement and software upgrade. In addition, if the PC failure involves the hard drive, there is a risk of losing all stored tool files. So, if you choose not to upgrade, we advised that you backup your hard drive.
